Leotard-clad and festooned with all the ambitious ruffles of a band arriving at the big time, Wolf Alice have evolved from tiny north London venues to become an arena-sized act. They won the Mercury Music Prize in 2018 for their album Visions of a Life, and have continued to be nominated for the prize with every album since, including last year’s The Clearing: a retro, stylish, soft-rock extravaganza that moves away from the glacial synth and eardrum-bursting guitar of previous records. Whether they’re channelling 1970s FM pop, or turning up the volume and letting loose, Wolf Alice won’t be the only ones howling at the moon when they step onto the Mountain Stage this summer.
