The Slow Country operate in the space between alt-rock and alt-folk: “intertwining guitars, mandolins, and violins, duelling vocals, surrealism and stupidity, dancing and crying — we try to be sincere and raucous in everything we do”, as they put it. The dynamic seven-piece band formed in Manchester and have a policy of “whoever writes the song, sings the song”, so on stage they operate as a tightly-bonded collective with no discernible frontperson, constantly metamorphosing, a wonderful amalgamation of many different brains.
