Not a pub on the outskirts of town, but a person — a founding member of Arizona experimental rockers Sun City Girls, no less, and an experimental solo guitarist in his own right. They call Michigan-born Sir Richard Bishop “the six-string shaman”, and with good reason. His compositions take in rollicking folk, characterful humour, influences from North Africa, India, and the middle east, and he calls his recent fifth record Hillbilly Ragas “an excursion into the dark woods”.
