Bicycles, trains, hot air balloons: all kinds of modes of transportation feature on Friko’s recent second album, Something Worth Waiting For. The Chicago indie rock quartet operate in the vein of Modest Mouse, Car Seat Headrest, and Ezra Furman, with a little bit of Conor Oberst and Sufjan Stevens to boot: they move from noise rock to avant-garde classic to seventies symphonic balladry with majestic ease, and though they are unlikely to arrive to Bannau Brycheiniog by hot air balloon, their live show is sure to be just as spectacular a sight.
