Caernarfon musician and composer Dafydd Owain earned nominations for the Welsh Music Prize and the Welsh-language Album of the Year awards for his 2023 debut Uwch Dros y Pysgod: semi-autobiographical and set in an imaginary village that borrows from the hunky-dory beauty of early nineties Welsh-language stop-motion cartoons — with a darker twist. He released his acclaimed follow-up album, Ymarfer Byw, last autumn.
