The Settler's Pass is your ticket to one whole week in Green Man land. Settle in, relax, explore.

Nestled within the majestic Brecon Beacons, the Settlement is your opportunity to explore miles and miles of mountains, forests, waterfalls and rivers. Camp with us for a whole week from 14th August to discover the verdant beauty of the Welsh surroundings...

Immersing yourself in our community of Settlers couldn’t be easier - host barbecues with produce sold daily (from the local butcher), team up for our legendary Settlement Pub Quiz, cuddle up around the Settlement bonfire or enjoy live music, workshops, outdoor adventure and family fun.

With special discounts on local heritage sites, galleries, castles and more, your Settler’s Pass allows you to unearth the very best of Wales. So welcome, Settlers!

Music & Activities

With an entire assemblage of activities lined up and the music curated by our pals Gareth Bonello (Monday), I KA CHING Records (Tuesday) and Cae Gwyn Records (Wednesday), discover what the Settlement has in store...



Because camping just wouldn’t be the same without some barbecuing. Use one of our Settlement BBQs and buy your produce from the local butcher Cashells, you’ll find their stall on-site. Ask at the steward’s cabin for charcoal & firelighters. (The BBQs are free to use; the only thing we ask is that you clean up after yourselves so that other people can use them after you)

Introduction to Foraging
Monday 16:00
An afternoon to find out what grows around these vibrant Welsh hills, they’ll spend time working out your bearings and making maps of the land to find your way home.

Cinema at Settlement: Pride
Monday 22:30 at Settlement Tent
Based on a true story, the film depicts a group of lesbian and gay activists who raised money to help families affected by the British miners' strike in 1984.

Monday - Tuesday from 15:30
If the sun comes out at this year's Settlement then we can use the solar telescopes to see the powerful surface of the sun.

Monday - Tuesday from 21:30
See the famous Perseid meteor shower and meander along the Milky Way with USK Astronomical Society. Sign up on-site, or bring your own telescope/binoculars and observe the skies go by.

Silent Disco Baby Rave

Babies want to rave too. This year's silent disco baby rave will see parents and their infants making all the shapes in a friendly environment.

You Legend! Welsh Myths Drama Workshop
Monday - Tuesday
Join Dan Yr Haul/Under the Sun for a mythical workshop where you'll be taught about the Welsh myth of Taliesin through drama and then create your very own myths and magical creatures to perform! All ages welcome.

The Weird and Wonderful
Monday - Tuesday (various times)
Join Mark Fraser as he tells his own original stories and interpretations throughout the day using the land around him. A unique storytelling performance with interaction, engagement and inclusion.

By night discover the weird, odd and potentially terrifying tales from the gentleman Jacob Cracker. Sit in his parlour and listen to the stories he has collected over the past two hundred years...if you dare.

Join Under the Sun for their very popular workshop for learning Welsh phrases and words through Drama! This workshop will culminate in making your very own short Welsh language performance! All ages welcome.

Poetry Machine

Poet, Beth Calverley, will be bringing The Poetry Machine to Settlement. This is your chance to experience poetry, created in response to your thoughts, feelings, ideas, and discoveries.
Just follow the sound of her vintage typewriter and look out for the machine's bright yellow umbrella, flagpole and bubble engine.

Moving with Mountains
Tuesday & Wednesday Afternoon
A free mindful movement and breath session amongst the mountains of the Usk Valley for all ages! Exploring a range of creative movements to ground down and re-energise your afternoon.

West African Dance and Djembe Drumming Workshops

The Successors of the Mandingue with special guests Troupe Djeliguinet will deliver authentic West African dance and djembe drumming workshops facilitated by master musicians and artists from Guinea Conakry. Get caught up in the infectious rhythms and joy of traditional Mandingue culture. Fun, interactive, and suitable for all ages and abilities.

Action Movement Peace

Action Movement Peace is back bringing you an interactive theatre performance suitable for all ages! Travel to a possible future, in which the PIGS are in control. You can help stop them by using your creativity and voice, you'll help Seed on their journey to rediscover the forgotten true things...

Live GIANT Doodle Artwork - with Luke Crump
Monday - Wednesday
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Green Man, UK artist Luke Crump will be creating HUGE detailed artwork in his unique ‘doodle’ style! Come and watch as the piece blossoms in-front of your very eyes. Chat with the artist and share your GM memories, stories and experiences to include within the final artwork.

Secrets of the Circus
Monday - Wednesday
Come and learn the Secrets of The Circus with one of Wales’ leading circus companies Citrus Arts. Make your own hula hoops, twirling poi, or spinning staffs with their team, who are here to share the hands-on skills of touring circus life.

For all ages, but we do encourage grown-ups to be there for smaller people as they’ll be using workbenches, saws, hammers etc.

Junkfish will be back with their incredible range of crafts and outdoor activities. Kids can get creative with their colourful make-and-take crafts to celebrate Green Man's 20th birthday and let their imaginations go wild at the playdough cafe and lego stations. Plus outdoor fun with circus toys, giant garden games and, of course, the ever popular Junk Ball Run.

My Discombobulated Brain
Monday - Wednesday
Take some time for yourself with My Discombobulated Brain, a charity with the goal of removing stigma associated with mental health. They will be crafting during the day for the kids and a safe space in the evening where you can go to chill out, talk or just to take some time out from the festival.

Using a human powered pole lathe, work off your energy and learn some new woodworking skills in this rustic workshop.

Running Punks
Monday - Wednesday (various times)
Join the tribe of Running Punks with a shared love of music and running, with a slice of punk rock attitude thrown into the mix as well! The bundle of activities from Running Punks is for all ages.

Tea-time tales with Crochan

Breathe in the mountain air, get comfy, and settle down for the evening with a Welsh-language tea-time tale.

Illustrating Nature
Monday - Wednesday
Illustrator Lizzie Harper specialises in plant and animal illustration. Join her on nature walks, go hunting for bugs, explore her collection of specimens and have a go at drawing them. Learn how to sketch leaves & flowers, and to look at nature a little bit differently

Fire Drawing
Monday - Wednesday at dusk
Learn to draw, build, and burn a fire Drawing by joining the Citrus team for a few hours each day. Overalls and gloves will be provided as you learn the science behind this beautiful moment of burning art for our fellow Settlement dwellers each night at dusk.

Chair Massage
Monday - Wednesday
For this relaxing treatment you can remain fully clothed. Your treatment will include gentle stretches, rotations of the joints, acupressure and deep tissue techniques. Your massage therapist will focus on your neck, shoulders, back, arms, and hands. All designed to relieve stress, tension, and alleviate any muscular back pain. 15mins - £18. 30mins - £30

Block Printing Workshops
Tuesday - Wednesday 10:00 - 18:00
Settlers are invited to 3 different workshops to create something unique and special using either wooden blocks or block printed fabrics. Participants can make their own bunting for their tents, or a handy tote bag or a practical bandana - all using organic cotton, ecos dyes and fabric off cuts. You will learn about this ancient craft and block printing techniques.

For the Love of Trees: Morning Tree Walk

Sharing the folklore, magic and majesty that surrounds our native and naturalised trees.

Infusing Plants into Oils

How many plants can be infused into oils? Can you do this at home? Come and find out.

Stories for Welsh learners from Crochan

Really immerse yourself in Cymru and learn some useful Welsh vocabulary for your stay at the Settlement in this fun, informal and interactive workshop.

Celebrating Nature

the beauty of nature and create offerings; to the land and ourselves.

The Hummadruz team will be coming to the Settlement to illuminate the Usk valley with their fire show and UV Fire Labyrinth.

13.7 miles from Green Man - Much of the water that fills Talybont Reservoir begins its journey high up in the mountains at the head of the Talybont Valley in the eastern Beacons.

Henrhyd Falls: The highest one
36.6 Miles from Green Man - With a drop of 27m, Sgwd Henrhyd, on the River Nant Llech north-west of Glyn-Neath, Henrhyd Falls is the highest waterfall in the National the village of Coelbren. This is a fantastic waterfall when seen in full flow, located in a steep-sided, wooded gorge. It’s most famous for being the location for the ‘Bat Cave’ in the last Batman film. Best seen (like most waterfalls) when there’s been heavy rainfall.

National Trust Nearby

The Kymin, near Monmouth. A Georgian round house and naval temple set on top of a hill overlooking the Wye valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Stunning views!

The Begwns, near Hay-on-Wye. A beautiful stretch of common land with panoramic views of the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons.

Green Man’s very own Sugarloaf and Skirrid mountains are owned and looked after by the National Trust. Plus we’d also recommend visiting the central Brecon Beacons (Corn Du, Pen y Fan & Cribyn) or why not take a visit to the Tarell valley. Founded in 1895, the National Trust is an independent conservation charity that works to preserve and protect historic places and spaces - for ever, for everyone.


Ogmore-by-Sea, CF32 0QP:
A sand & pebble beach located near Bridgend in Glamorgan. Ogmore Beach is the locals' choice for dog walking & surfing – plus it's right on the Glamorgan Coastal Path so put on your hiking boots and have a stroll. Driving here takes just under 1h30m from the Settlement.

Newton Beach, Porthcawl, CF36 5NE:
A sandy and rocky beach, popular with windsurfers and jet skiers. With miles of sand (although very rocky in parts), you can walk to the river mouth at Ogmore; it is next to Newton Burrows and Merthyr Mawr dunes. Driving here takes 1h20m from the Settlement.

Coney (Sandy Bay) Porthcawl, CF36 5BY:
A sheltered, sandy bay close to Porthcawl town. Driving here takes 1h20m from the Settlement.

Llantwit Major, CF61 1RF:
Llantwit Major/Cwm Colhuw Beach is sandy and great for surfing, coastal walks, and rock pools.The Wales Coast Path joins up with the beach and offers some fantastic walks with great views. Driving here takes 1h30m from the Settlement.


Setter's Offers

Blue Dot Adventure
Between 15 – 17th August, Blue Dot will make the following sessions available to Settlers at Green Man. You can find them at the Stewards Hut.

Stand Up Paddleboarding
An hour of “on the water” time will be available to book in advance or on-site subject to availability. The cost per board per hour is £10, which also includes the use of a
buoyancy aid. All paddlers will receive a safety briefing by a member of staff prior to getting
on the water.

Canoeing and Kayaking
A two-hour session will be available to book in advance or on the day subject to availability.
Costs for a single craft will be £20 or £25 for a double.

Beacon Park Day Boats
Visit their beautiful wharf, just a few minutes away, to enjoy 10% off a trip on one of their self drive electric day boats along the Mon and Brec canal. They also have canoes, and a cycle boat.
