Megan Broadmeadow is a Welsh artist who makes immersive exhibitions including Video, VR, Sculpture, performance and digital installation technologies.

Megan's new commission Dewiniath (meaning Sorcery in English) uses cutting edge video technology and AI, alongside collaboration with Welsh singers to create an uncanny interpretation of Welsh superstition and predictions into the future, which will evolve over the weekend as the audience at Green Man interact with it. It is the beginning of a major new and previously unseen body of work.

Wales is a landscape filled with myth and legend, stories about shape shifting beings and superstitious beliefs form the heart of its culture. In the Mabinogi fictional powerful women made of flowers can possess the ability to turn people into animals, whilst in reality until the late middle ages witches were practicing without persecution. Today our philosophers write on the ‘magic’ of technology, and the potential of human/ tech hybrids walking the earth. Megan asks what happens when the old meet the new? What magic will we rely on in the future, and who will be practicing it?

With thanks to Green Man Trust and Arts Council Wales for its support.
