Angela Davies is an artist living and working in Wales.

Angela’s new temporary commission Aequus was filmed on the Autumn equinox at Craig y Don, North Wales, and aerial footage traces dancers framed by the empty lido pool and the Irish Sea. Drawing on future plans for a 19-mile tidal lagoon in North Wales, the work considers connections across politics of location and constructs of space, and the complex entanglements which coexist as we seek greener energy solutions - many Lidos in Wales were built by the miner’s welfare fund.

The sound draws on mapping of ocean waves, transcribed and combined with field recordings vocals. It aligns to solfeggio sonic frequencies - an attempt to infuse a deeper vibrational resonance.

Aequus emerged from a Future Wales Fellowship and an early iteration was shown at Glynn Vivian in November 2023. With thanks to Green Man Trust and Arts Council Wales for its support.
