The entire family can make everything they need for an intergalactic quest in Little Folk. Craft yourself a cardboard jetpack with Junkfish at Mission Control before making your way to The Launch Pad and blasting off through the solar system on the Zipwire. Extra terrestrials galore will be made in Alien Sock Puppets and Alien Masks. Darn It will ensure that everyone has the correct headwear, as will Crazy Cosmic Crowns and Priscilla Queen of the Faeries will guide you through making mod roc masks, should you require extra oxygen. Make a time capsule for any future visitors with Moona Craft and build automata (moving toys) with The DIY Tribe. Woolly Circus will teach wet felting techniques to create galactic pictures and space bowls and Trenchard and Moon will be on hand to create a mural that will extend through the festival, until it includes the entire universe.
Create and record intergalactic adventures with Acorn Animations or look at planet Earth in a whole new way with Camera Obscura. You can design your own flag to mark all the new planets you conquer with Hotpress Flags and search for the world’s most valuable star in The Star Collectors with Tiny Wild Fox.
There will be some valuable lessons about how to look after our precious planet including an entire world where everything is pedal powered. Visit Pedal Emporium in Shooting Stars to explore bizarre bicycles where you can power your own fun with bicycle bingo, galaxy paintings and a space disco!
For our tiniest of astronauts there will be a Baby Chillout Tent for under 3s, puppet shows and slime making.
For the musically minded Baby Bops and Toddle Bops will run every day, as will Mindful Music workshops and our resident Jolly Green Alien will pop up in the field to give all a chance to join his band. There will be some serious stardust created through rocking out with Rocktopus, Rock Your Alien and, of course, The Brwmys.
Expect to meet some of your favourite sci-fi characters with walkabout performances In a Galaxy Far Far Away and the new book Sinbad the Cosmonaut from children’s author Sarah Kilbride will be brought to life before your very eyes.
For the Little Folk who’ve had their rocket fuel there will be Comet Football Zorbing with Football First, circus skills workshops with Circus Thirty Six, and all kinds of outdoor activities with Rooted Forest School. The Flying Seagulls will bring their own brand of madcap fun with circus skills, music and everyone’s favourite Kid’s Comedy Corner. The whole family can also begin or end the day with Family Yoga with Sam to wind up, or calm down, as you see fit.
All activities are free, and, of course, we’ll create a big bang all of our own during the Little Folk Parade on Sunday. There we are, it may feel like light years away but the countdown has begun, we’ll see you in August for lift off!
