Middle English poetry, incantatory chants, Leonora Carrington, Vangelis, Powell and Pressburger films: plenty falls under Lucy Gooch’s broad sweep. The Bristol-based artist grew up singing in choirs in rural Norfolk, so it’s not surprising that her music sounds a bit like if Kate Bush joined a choir accompanied by synth instead of an organ. Her debut album Desert Window arrives this summer.
