Nature and grief — and the ways the two intertwine — inform much of the work of Hannah Frances. The Vermont-based classically-trained singer, songwriter, self-taught guitarist, dancer, and poet released her second album Keeper Of The Shepherd last year. She dropped out of art school to make music after the untimely loss of her father, and a search for catharsis and healing steers her avant-folk, prog-adjacent music, putting her in a similar camp to Sharon Van Etten, Joanna Newsom, and Laura Marling.
