Introducing Field Notes - where we spotlight a GM26 act you’re going to want to check out. And to begin proceedings we have My New Band Believe...
Who...
Meet Cameron Picton’s new project My New Band Believe. The former black midi guitarist and bassist has hit upon a sound that could have taken multiple albums to establish. Their newly released debut album is urgent & jangly, almost tripping over itself in its eagerness to be heard. With all the melodic skitter of a Bright Eyes tune, we’re equally as eager to hear more from Picton’s new band.
For fans of...
- Black Country, New Road
- Squid
- Shame
- Dry Cleaning
- Talking Heads
Why did we book them?
black midi played a stellar set in Far Out at GM21. This new project felt like a natural next step from that world & immediately caught our ears. We love that the debut already sounds like a fully formed concept.

Direct, intense, off-kilter
What to listen to?
Start with Numerology - it showcases their chaotic & frantic side.
Then try Love Story - one of the more melodic, structured tracks on their debut album.
