Tai Haf Heb Drigolyn are a mysterious bunch. Their name translates to Unoccupied Summer Houses — a jab at English second-home owners — and they self-recorded their 2024 debut album Ein Albwm Cyntaf Ni straight onto tape in three different home studios, originally releasing it on an extremely limited cassette-only run. Their DIY, ghostly, foggy lo-fi recordings, all static and subverted melody, were nominated for the 2025 Welsh Music Prize. Some call them “tunenoise”, and the spiritual children of Welsh lo-fi new-wave pioneers Datblygu as well as Godspeed You Black Emperor.
