Sex and Flowers - a masterclass in reframing sex and gender

Plants really do make us think outside of the binary. They can be male, female or any combination of the two – the way they exhibit sex and gender is so complex we cannot view them with an anthropomorphic lens. This talk will showcase the diverse range of ways plants do sex and gender and help to reframe the way we see sex and gender in humans too.Robbie Blackhall-Miles is a British conservationist, plant expert, and advocate for endangered and rare plant species. He grows and conserves some of the world’s most threatened plant species. His work emphasizes the preservation of biodiversity, particularly of those less high profile species that are often overlooked but are crucial to ecosystems.

War and Wildflowers - the impacts of war on nature

The human impact of war cannot be ignored yet there are consequences for nature too. Some of these are so huge and negative they are irreparable, some so positive they bring hope for species along with them. This talk will reflect on the impacts of conflict on plant diversity and nature conservation.Robbie Blackhall-Miles is a British conservationist, plant expert, and advocate for endangered and rare plant species.
