From selling antiques to fellow musicians at London markets, to living out of a car to fund their second album, it seems Yak always plump for the wild and precarious route. Formed in 2014, the Black Country trio released their debut album Alas Salvation two years later to frenzied acclaim. On second album, Pursuit of Momentary Happiness, out in February 2019, lashings of pouty rock icons meet cynicism and caricature, via a chaotic swagger of guitar, strings, brass… and bird recordings. Yak’s live shows are known to be scuzzy and raucous, a steamrollering of sound. But don’t take our word for it: come and see for yourself at Green Man this summer.
