In their 1970s heyday, Witch (We Intend To Cause Havoc) were renowned for their seven-hour stadium-sized shows. Pioneers of Zamrock — a Zambian combination of traditional African rhythms with western garage and psych rock — as the most popular band in the country, Witch were often dubbed Zambia’s Beatles. They fell into obscurity during the 1980s but have enjoyed a recent revival, helped by album reissues and a new documentary about the band. We can’t promise a seven-hour set, but we can promise unbound energy and brilliant musicianship — it’s a privilege to have Witch at Green Man this year.
