Taking in samba, disco, funk, 90s acid house, Lynchian cinema, and Brian Eno, it’s no wonder The Orielles sound like they’ve existed forever. They’re expert at dismantling and rebuilding genres, first on 2018’s Silver Dollar Moment, and now on imminent second album Disco Volador. It took a few gong baths, Sharpie doodles, 70s thrillers, Milan Kundera books to reach the new album, which is shaped by delay pedals, a flexatone, and strict adherence to the band’s ‘boogie to space, space to boogie’ mantra.
