Drummer, composer, bandleader, field recorder, musicologist, self-proclaimed outsider… Sarathy Korwar’s CV is hardly lacking. His 2016 debut album introduced us to a sound unlike anything we’d known before: indo-jazz inflected with folk, electronics, hip-hop, and vocal and percussion samples from Gujarat field recordings. Second album, 2019’s More Arriving, confronts being Indian in Britain, a ‘modern brown record’ that gives voice to a diverse range of realities, from the young working-class UK jazz scene to the gully rap of Mumbai slums. Improvisation and collaboration dwell at his core, but we’ll let you find out the rest when he takes to the Green Man stage.
