“Big love can create miracles,” believes Sofia Kourtesis on her debut album Madres, which arrived last year. Dedicated to her mother and her mother’s cancer neurosurgeon, it’s an album awash with hope and joy, painted thickly with her usual warm house, textured compositions, and foraged sounds. The Peruvian-born, Berlin-based DJ, producer, and writer has continued to soar since her 2020 breakout Sarita Colonia, leaving a twinkling string of EPs and singles in her wake that conjure South American sunshine and magical Berlin nights.
