Mushroom Growing

Join us in the workshop dome and learn how to grow your own pink oyster mushrooms. Using glass jars, pasteurised straw and sawdust spawn, you’ll learn to mix your own batch of mushrooms-to-be and take it home with you to watch it grow. We’ll cover the life cycle of this delicious shroom from spore to fruiting body, and share some tips on how to cook them. (Our favourite recipe is oyster mushroom steak with brandy cream sauce and chips).

This workshop is run by Bristol Mushroom Co, two sisters, Hannah and Emily, who started growing mushrooms in Hannah’s spare room in 2021. Since then they've been experimenting with mushroom pate, sausages and salami – all vegan – as a way to use up our surplus stock.
