“We just go hell for leather every time we play,” say Maruja. “It’s a cathartic experience. We want to destroy it every time.” The Manchester band have already acquired a reputation for the unpredictable as they inflict the frustrated vigour of punk on the improvisatory nature of jazz. Their debut EP Knocknarea, a collection of jam-derived songs, came out last year. Maruja are an enormous ball of energy, and we’re thrilled that Green Man lies in their path this August.
