Between them, Marisa Anderson and William Tyler are quite the musical polymaths. There’s no genre Portland guitarist and activist Marisa won’t turn her hand to – blues, electronica, circus, you name it – while Tennessee-based William has played guitar for artists as wide-ranging as Lambchop, Bonnie Prince Billy, and Candi Staton, scoring films as a solo instrumentalist too. They’ve got a lot to share – interrupted hopes, aches, the joy of friendship – but the pair let their guitars do the talking, alongside drones, strings, and interwoven melodies. Their first collaboration, the aptly-titled Lost Futures, arrives in August, the same month they’ll bring their soundtrack of solace all the way to Wales.
