Fiery, fuzzy, and feminist, Irish post-punk group M(h)aol are steeped in the history and literature of their home country, even from their name alone — they’re named after Gráinne Mhaol (Grace O’Malley). Their intersectional, anti-patriarchal bent comes to the fore on debut EP Gender Studies, but stuffy university seminar this isn’t: the five-piece are equally accomplished at good old-fashioned noisy fun.
