What do you do when everybody in your band is called John? Call the band JOHN, obviously. To be fair, there’s only two of them, and to be fair, John’s a common enough name. The Crystal Palace duo released their noisy second album Out Here On The Fringes last year. By day, one John’s a chef and one’s a decorator. But by night they’re here to cleanse your ears with loud, deadpan punk, fast and stormy, from the fringes. Their lyrics poke fun at everyday idiosyncrasies – like ‘anti-plastic plastic bags’ – that reflect a bigger, brutalist political landscape.
