Fife native and Fence Collective long-timer James Yorkston played at our inaugural Green Man Festival back in 2003, and has been a regular among our hills ever since. The timeless element of Yorkston’s intuitive, literary folk inspired John Peel to play his demo tape in 2000, sparking a fine solo career that has seen eight albums and collaborations with Alexis Taylor and Kieran Hebden. Roving between Indian sarangi, jazz, experimental folk, and the musical spirit of home village Cellardyke, Yorkston’s journey leads to a ninth album, Route to the Harmonium, out this year. We herald his return to Green Man.
