Mixer, producer, and DJ Kieran Hebden began making music as Four Tet in 1997. He’s since released nine albums, collaborating with the likes of Thom Yorke and Burial. Four Tet’s dissonance was quickly dubbed ‘folktronica’, but the music is vaster, borrowing from jazz, new-age psychedelia, techno, hip-hop and Hebden’s Indian roots. Drawing out energetic undercurrents from cosmic serenity, Four Tet’s live shows are powerfully immersive, a Brian Eno-esque surrender to the sound: dancefloor zen that’s almost spiritual.
