Snake-hipped and sharply dressed, Father John Misty delivers languid sermons on fame, politics, social media, and love. The preacher, aka singer and songwriter Josh Tillman, began releasing solo records in 2004. After a dalliance with Fleet Foxes, he adopted the moniker Father John Misty and a fresh flamboyance with 2012 album Fear Fun. His following three albums achieved widespread acclaim with their hymnal wit, ironic romance, and macrocosmic view of the human condition. In 2018 Father John Misty released God’s Favourite Customer, lean arrangements of guitar, sax, a flicker of glockenspiel. He’ll be back among our mountains this summer, gracing Green Man with his trademark sashay.
