What does “the ballroom scene of the mid 80s, glamour, whales, the lonely employee at a dead-end corporate gig, the bloodshot eyes of the divorcee, the night nurse, and the rebellious nun” have in common? They’re all inspirations for Devendra Banhart’s eleventh album, Flying Wig, which came out last year. The American-Venezuelan artist has been releasing music for over twenty years, and this time he took to a Topanga canyon to forge a new electronic direction, with producer and friend Cate Le Bon in tow. He last played Green Man way back in 2007 — we’re delighted to catch up with him all these years down the road.
