Bet you didn’t know that Talking Heads frontman David Byrne was actually born in Scotland (Dumbarton to be precise). So it’s only right that he’s honoured alongside fellow Scottish poet Robert Burns on Byrne’s Night. Dreamt up by Maddy O’Keefe and Dundee native Lola Stephen aka Dancing Barefoot, and first put into action last year at London’s Moth Club, Byrne’s Night involves Burns poems and supergroup Byrne-adjacent cover sets — so far featuring members of shame, Black Country, New Road, Los Bitchos, Squid, Bodega, Charlotte Adigery & Bolis Pupul, Goat Girl, and many more — presided over by drag royalty Ash Kenazi. As they put it, “the camp, beautiful chaos and collaboration en masse is more than just a tribute”.
