Blue Bendy don’t sit still on a single sound. “We want to do everything,” they say, though they’re particularly drawn to “anything dark, weird, or poppy”. The London six-piece release their debut album next month — it’s called So Medieval, but their ambitious, expansive music roams all kinds of epochs, taking in everything from baroque pop to industrial rock to post-punk, accompanied at all times by sharp lyrical imagery.
