American noise-rock outfit Bambara have always been preoccupied with a sense of place: from dark city streets, to western expanses, to their southern Gothic roots and hometown claustrophobia. But it’s more an atmosphere than a geographical nod. Energetic undercurrents buoy novelistic lyrics, while vocals are treated as both human and instrumental, buried in shadowy nocturnal noise. Formed in 2009, the band’s fourth album, Stray, is due this year. They’ll bring their corrosive chaos to Green Man when August rolls around.
