The May Dolls are a duo from Malvern, both of whom play guitar, write songs and sing. Becca Roberts is a songwriter, singer and guitarist from Dorset. She studied music in school but has spent the last couple of years teaching Year Five at a primary school. The May Dolls is her first professional musical endeavour, and Just For One Night is the first proper recording of her songs. Tyler Massey is an inveterate guitarist, songwriter, teacher and singer from America who now lives and works in Malvern, where he's been since 2005. He studied music at University and has played in dozens of projects over the years. The May Dolls are due to go back into the studio this summer to record an exciting set of brand new songs.

Background on our name: in the past, in some parts of Britain, May 1st was called Garland Day. In many English villages children would parade with garlands of flowers, sometimes fastened to sticks or in the shape of a cross, or fixed to hoops, hoping to collect money. The garland was usually decorated with a small doll, which usually resembled the Virgin Mary, so the tradition was known as "May Dolling". The tradition is very old: in Roman times, the dolls depicted goddess Flora, who was supplanted by Mary when Rome turned to Christianity.
