Gather around, one and all: here in the wild Welsh mountains, we're well-accustomed to the age old-tradition of sharing side-splitting stories. Chuckling along to some of the UK’s best up-and-coming comics has become a quintessential part of the Green Man experience, and this year’s laugh-a-minute line-up promises to be pretty special.
If you can’t choose between music and comedy, you need The Horne Section in your life. Comedian Alex Horne and his talented troubadours combine spontaneous stand-up with improvised tunes, resulting in a hilarious hybrid that’s already featured on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Never Mind The Buzzcocks. Melodic maestro John Shuttleworth is also responsible for some ingeniously funny songs; don’t miss the old school entertainer singing about school dinners and Curly Wurly wrappers.
The irresistible charm of Ivo Graham and the belly-laugh-inducing brilliance of David Trent promise to have you guffawing into your Courtyard pint. Also on our not-to-be-missed list are the fantastically delusional one-man-band antics of Rob Deering and the skilful self-deprecation of Angela Barnes. And if you missed him tootling about with his band, Alex Horne will be be performing a solo set. Stage hogger or what?
There’s plenty more besides: Green Man favourite Gavin Osborn, award-winning witty man Daniel Simonsen, cartoony chatterbox Howard Read, local laugh-maker Mike Bubbins, oddball genius Caroline Mabey, deadpan dynamo Steve Hall, live music-based game show Beat This, riotous performer Robert White, offbeat skit queen Matilda Wnek, relatable bloke Matt Rees, talented observationalist Chris Martin and master of one-liners Rob Hughes.
