Volunteering

We have three types of volunteers: stewards, accessibility, and litter. All places to volunteer at this year's festival are full you can sign up to be in our reserve list at gmfe.st/reserve.

Bar Staff

As a member of the bar staff at Green Man you are at the very heart of the festival. Working in one of the nine bars on site, this is a brilliant opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a busy festival environment whilst making some new pals along the way.

To apply to be bar staff at Green Man you must be 18 or over and need a minimum of 6 months' bar experience. At the festival you’re required to work a minimum of 22 hours across four days and will be paid an hourly rate.

Wishbone Applications

‘Don your glad rags and shake your tail feathers. Welcome, revellers, to The Wishbone. This is your lucky night.’

The Wishbone is a late night cabaret party space hidden in a secret location. We are seeking a range of performers for Green Man 2024. Whether it’s a silly dance act, a ridiculous crowd interaction or wild drag show, we want to hear from acts who can help us create a raucous inclusive spectacle for our guests.

Einstein's Garden Science Stalls

We’re on the lookout for organisations, research groups, and any other science/nature/technology-minded folk that would like to bring a stall to Einstein’s Garden with the aim of engaging festival audiences with their work. Your stall will explore any aspect of science or tech research, nature, curiosity or questions about the world around us, which you’ll bring to life in a unique way to amaze and engage our audience of thousands.

Chef/Cooks

Green Man are looking for a couple of hardworking, passionate cooks to keep the crew fed and watered throughout the build and break of this amazing festival. Rising Assistant

Job Role: Rising Assistant - Green Man

Salary: £25,688 gross pro rata per annum (£1,976 gross for 20 days)

The Role

Supporting 125 music creators each year,​​ Green Man Rising is a unique music development programme that sets new acts on their way to becoming the headliners of tomorrow. It’s about offering new acts live performance opportunities, professional promotional assets, mentoring from industry professionals and access to a network of key tastemakers that can push their work forward. It happens under the umbrella of the Green Man festival offering bands the chance to open its iconic Mountain Stage.

Purpose of the Role

Green Man is looking for an Assistant to join its Music team and assist with the management of the Green Man Rising programme, from the selection process through to the management of bands at the festival. The role requires a self-motivated person with a strong work ethic who can work well under pressure, be personable and able to build natural rapport.

The role will require ‘on-site’ work at different stages of the programme, i.e at the live final (13th June 2024) and at Green Man festival (August 2024)

The role will work within the milestones as agreed by line management and comply with the Contract of Employment and Employers Handbook which this Job Description forms part of.

This is a part-time role with fluctuating daily commitments and some unsocial working hours are expected.

Tasks and responsibilities

  1. Support the Music team with the selection process of Green Man Rising competition entries
  2. Assist the team with collating Marketing assets from bands
  3. Assist with organising the competition live final, liaising with the partner venue and other stakeholders
  4. Act as the main point of contact for participating bands
  5. Assist with advancing and riders and provide required information to relevant teams
  6. Assist Marketing and Music teams and partner production company with managing the sessions at the festival
  7. Oversee the smooth entrance of artists and guests at the festival
  8. Act as the first point of contact for Artist Box Office teams for enquiries during the festival live days
  9. Work with the Green Man Trust Manager to monitor and evaluate the programme
  10. Provide administrative support as and when required by line management

Skills

  • Excellent communication and numeracy skills
  • Working familiarity with Photoshop, Indesign, G Suite, Microsoft Office (Excel in particular)
  • Attention to detail and good organisational skills
  • Excellent research skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and take direction and initiative as required
