You could drive into Brecon, some really nice little craft shops, galleries, a cathedral (it's pretty impressive inside and has a visitor's centre) and a few nice pubs and coffee shops too. Also there is a branch of Crickhowell Adventure (as well as the one in Crickhowell obviously), Cotswold Outdoor, Milletts, and Gibb Outdoor here - good for picking up any last minute campsite necessities! Near Brecon you could go for a nice walk and then stop in at the National Park Visitor's Centre for some really good food, or go up Pen-Y-Fan if the weather is nice - incredible views! There's also a place not too far from Crickhowell near Bronllys called The Honey Cafe which serves really good food, nice lunches and then some sort of tex-mex menu in the evenings which is actually really good. Tretower Court isn't too far away either and I loved going there when I was a kid.
there is a walk via the campsite and along the river, which doesnt go on any road, its a nice walk through farmers fields, and takes about 30mins. its longer than the road but a million times safer. i went for a run on the surrounding roads and was almost killed several times, which would have been disapointing considering how good the Fleet Foxes were, and i'd have missed them. So stay off the Roads.

(I'd also recommend picking up some bacon in the Crickhowell butchers, it's amazing!)

I'd certainly recommend the Talybont waterfalls walk. Beautiful, only up the road and completely free.

takes about 25 minutes
and there's no pavement
so if you're going to do it in the dark, bring a reflective vest
otherwise a crazy-driving local will almost certainly run you over
