Cool little festival

Forums:

This might be of interest to a few of you folk,a great little festival(about 300 capacity) called cloudspotting up in the beautiful ribble valley in lancashire,i went myself last year-king creosote played and this year the wave pictures are headlining, they even brewed their own session ale-cloudspotter.Check out the link anyway.

Nothing happens when I click on most of the headings (e.g. ticket info, location etc). Don't think we could find either the time or money for a third (possibly fourth if you count a day or so at Moseley Folk) festivasl this summer. Off to the Lunar Festival in a couple of weeks - weather not exactly promising. Details here: http://www.lunarfestival.co.uk/

Got, Master of None just before xmas the best record i bought last year hands down. Not heard of cloudspotting before so nice to see JC is playing in Lancs. Not been to greenman since 2010, looking for something a bit more low key...

not sure about three trapped tigers though..... what the hell is math rock ?  Who makes these tags up ?

It's definately low key ,it was the first one last year, only around 200 people, one stage outside, then stuff on in the pub, great ale, great food and camping next to the river ribble-you should come.Yeah master of none is a great album.

I'd love to give cloudspotting a try, it's just that bit too far for us to travel.

I do need to find a nice 'second' festival. After a number of false starts, our old favourite the Trowbridge Village Pump lokks to be back on this year. Howver it works out almost the same cost as GM for a pretty weak line-up.

Hi Otter

What was the vibe like ? Im after a chilled out weekend, whats the pace of the music like. i have never liked rushing about & worrying about overlaps. It says that kids go free so for a full weekend camping for me the mrs & two under 5's its a 1r....  the price is right, but would just need to see if the line-up & flavour is.

many thanks in advance

The vibe is extremely chilled out,a great mix of people, there aren't any overlaps with the music it's just simply a case of walking from the stage outside to the pub inside in the 5 seconds it will take you,the camping is in the field across the river and it really is a stunning part of the country, there was quite a few kid's bombing around last year and they really added to the spirit of things,i think you should come,it does feel like a green man in it's infancy, both the organisers are green man veteran's.

I rang up one of the blokes who runs it & he explained the ethos behind it, about day dreaming and taking your time. He said that the band Ofay on the saturday will be brilliant, made up of the earlies they are doing a set of covers from lional richie to zappa..

he said cloudspotting festival is just a hobbie & that he and his partner just wanted to have something simple & fun........Anyhow he sold it me..thats just what I fancy.

just sent a cheque off for my tickets. thanks little otter for the tip.

Setting off to the  cloudspotting festival in whalley, lancashire in the next couple of hours,i can't wait-a few good green man acts to get me in the mood, the wave pictures, tiny ruins, laura j martin and three trapped tigers and most importantly the sun is shining.

Have a great weekend, would loved to have gone especially for the earlies doing covers, but 5 more festivals to go this year and the bank balance is getting low.

Krasnyi,i am pleased to report that the wave pictures were absolutely stunning last night at cloudspotting and will be a green man shoe in whatever the clashes-stand out track-spaghetti.

Just thought i would mention tickets have gone on sale for 2013,now over three days and in a new location. They are only aiming for a few hundred people and have already announced Sweet Baboo,Magic arm,Colorama and Jonnie Common.Should be good.

Giving this one serious consideration - I see the location has moved and wonder how this might affect the vibe? Wave Pictures also on the line-up!

Hi Krasnyi, well after six years of green man me and mrs otter won't be attending this year because of the imminent birth of our first child next month(gutted but the ben howard announcement has softened the blow) but we will be attending Cloudspotting for the third time due to it being just up the road and it being organised by my brother in law(a green man veteran). The new location is a bit further north but even more stunning,i don't know if you've ever visited Gisburn Forest but it is god's country as they say,the capacities only rising by a couple of hundred-550-600 so i'm trusting the vibe will stay,it will be the majority of the lovely folk who've attended previously plus lovely folk like you Krasnyi, come on join the cloudspotting family.

Thanks for that alo, it does look enticing and I think we'll plump for it over Deer Shed (where you have to clear out on the sunday evening!) Our kids are 9 and 7 - do you reckon there'll be stuff for them to get involved in (other than listening to music)? Taking a 5-month old child eh? Well they sleep most of the day at that age!

I think there will be enough to do for the kids,if anything theres a big field and woods ha ha,keep a look out on the web site for more information on that score but there have been loads of kids bombing around the past two years, part of which creates  the vibe.I think me and my wife will do a night each,it's close enough for us to drive in each day.

Line-up looks nice again this year www.cloudspotting.org.uk

They seem to have a welsh vibe this year with Colorama, Gulp and Sweet Baboo. I cant fathom how they can have a line-up like that and still only have a cap of 350 adults and 150 under 16's.. go free.

I went to this last year and will be going again. My kids loved it & Jonnie Common blew my socks off, as did Michael Chapman,

Im looking forward to Wolf People, Magic Arm & King Creosote and the Earlies

Can't bloody believe I managed to book our family holiday for the same week. KC and the Earlies, now the Wave Pictures. I could just boil my head.
