Looking forward to out first Greenman. We usually do one of the Scottish festivals (wickerman or belladrum) where the vibe is great but the bands are usually a mixed bunch. We've always thought the line-up at the Greenman looks great, and have heard good things about the festival overall. So anyway, tickets are bought and we'll be there in August.
We have friends who are taking a campervan, and we'll be camping, hopefully next to them. The FAQ says if you have a Live In Vehicle ticket then you can have a four person tent next to your van, so that's what we're hoping to do (we all have young kids so we want to be able to camp together so we can still hang out after the kids are in bed).
My question is how this works - do we also need a ticket for the camper van field, or can we just arrange to camp next to them (presumably leaving our car in the main carpark)?
Has anybody tried this in the past? How far is the camper van field from the main car parking (we don't travel light, despite my protestations!)
Yes, we did this in the past. You don't need another live-in vehicle ticket - just your normal festival and car park tickets.
It's as you describe, you park in the normal car park and lug your stuff to where your friends are based.
It's best if you can arrive together to make sure you're able to grab enough space to set up your tent as the live-in vehicles will be packed fairly close together.
There's a new area for the campervans this year and the site layout is never published in advance so impossible to say how far from the nearest general car park it will be, but I wouldn't expect it to be too far. You should bring a good trolley (or hire one there) to transfer your stuff. Better still, persuade your friends to load it all into their campervan :-)
If you get there early, prepare for a right trek to the Live in Vehicle site, its right at the far end of the field, and as the week progresses they gradually creep closer to the Car Park, but i doubt you'll be disapointed with Green Man, its a wonderful week.
