bonnie prince billy

If he plays Southampton or Bournemouth I'm there. Otherwise it turns into a logistical and expensive nightmare.

he was SO good in montpellier last week that i'm thinking of travelling to a few of the uk shows as well as the london one

but glasgow is definitely too far!

did he do this in monpellier?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVMn3_yTmNo

no he didn't!

thanks for that link - very cool

he didn't have drums either

so don't know where he picked that guy up

maybe for the spanish shows only

Still really, really hoping Bonnie can make it to Green Man next year!..

Please!

BPB has been answering questions online this afternoon - amusing stuff, go check it out, if I was super organised I'd even give you the link.

Some of these responses can be quite curt.

so...

i have it on good authority (via alex nielsen) that the two UK shows in january will not be expanded to a full tour

apparently the celtic connections thing was booked first - and then london tacked on

but... bonnie will be back in april with a full tour on the back of the duets album with trembling bells

and... the two january shows will be solo - just will - no band

except he's added a dublin show!

which is not in the Uk

so strictly speaking my info was still correct!

dublin vicar street on the 31st january

one more

tickets don't appear to be on sale yet

There's more chance of the manic street preachers playing GM this year than BPB. the power strugle has been lost at te hart of the festival, the curates have gone and with them any adventure and risk taking wih the line up.profit first, charge for kids ect......

I'm puzzled as to how the inclusion of Mr Oldham on the bill might be considered 'risk-taking'?

besides all that, two more UK dates have been announced

the picturedome in holmfirth on the 26th april

and the acorn theatre in penzance on the 2nd may

these are both with trembling bells, alex nielsen's band

Krasnyi's picture

with you on that one peridot - seems like the opposite of risk-taking to me, risk-taking is booking Doves

Just got the latest listings through from my local arts centre, and they've got BpB and trembling bells down as a TBC for may 6th.

Shitting hell.. BpB coming to Colchester.. On a Friday!!

I am happy

looks like may 4th for colchester, stable will

just in case you're booking holiday time around the show!

yup.. got over excited.

May the Fourth be with you.

 Come to Brum Bonnie Billy!!!

Hey Ray.. just noticed you also post on the Arise List...

small world etc.

yeah

been there for a bit

but that was my first post

and i stole your news to make it!

The wonders of the internet.

The gig is still TBC - perhaps having to wait until full tour is announced - or maybe some festival announcements.   If he can be persuaded to stay in the country an extra month he'd be very welcome to headline No Direction Home.    *crosses fingers and toes*

just two weeks until the london show

i am a middle-aged teenager

peridot's picture

two weeks?

... so it is.

I'd kinda forgotten about it ... something to look forward to indeed.

Ray..  according to the domino website the hackney show will be Will and the full band he used on Wolfroy.

For me that is a reason to celebrate... pretty much everytime i've seen him he will come on and do a few solo numbers anyway (just him and guitar).  So now we get the best of both worlds!

hey should we all wear our "All Night Disco ..." Tshirts? Not that i have one.

ah - right

i guess now that they've added the irish shows, it's worth bringing the full band

they're bloody good

particularly angel olson on harmony vocals

so i'm not unhappy!

regarding the april / may shows with trembling bells, there's this from the acorn's website:

"the shows will encompass a special select route around the South West of England with support from Routes South West to take place around the 'Obby Oss' May Day celebrations."

whether this rules out many shows further north, i don't know

obviosuly there's already one in holmfirth which is yorkshire - so maybe not

3 more shows:

27/04/12 Leeds, Hyde Park Picture House 28/04/12 Cheltenham, The Frog And Fiddle 04/05/12 Oxford, Bullingdon Arms (The Bully)

so looks like the chelmsford gig for the 4th isn't happening - at least not on that date

erm .. colchester.

but i get yr drift.  hmmm not a good start to the week.

yup - sorry - colchester!

seems odd that it was mooted and then disappeared though

so maybe it'll just get moved

still plenty of gaps in that schedule

we're going to oxford

only one near enough to london so far

tiny venues though - which is great

another date added

EOTR  are tweeting about reading BPBs new book.

They'd better fucking not be thinking of booking him.  If he's playing anywhere this year it with us.  innit?  surely?

as an aside.. his new album with Trembling Bells is romping good fun. Love it.

Krasnyi's picture

just got tickets for his warwick arts centre show - never seen him before

EOTR seems unlikely. Surely he's headliner size and their only headliner to come is Bella Union...

Off to see him tonight, can't wait.Has anyone been to holmfirth picturedrome before?
