He was great last night with the trembling bell's in holmfirth picturedrome(what a lovely venue) and certainly wetted my appetite for an appearance on the f***able mountain stage, but after reading his thoughts on festivals in the new issue of uncut i fear disappointment is ahead for us bpb fans.
I'm hoping he was under contractual obligation to say he's not playing but we'll see... I was a bit awestruck but i built up a bit of Dutch courage, he was very nice.
The gig was amazing, loved the venue. Really looking forward to seeing the Trembling bells again.
Was speaking to one of the managers of the Picturedrome, they're looking at booking Grizzly Bear!
The Cheltenham recordings were made by me! Hope they're OK.
There's actually a good few Green Man recordings from last year, if you navigate to the August/September pages of Partly Porpoise (http://partlyporpoise.wordpress.com/) - Suuns, TreeFight for Sunlight; Gruff, Holy F*** if I remember rightly. I've been going for a few years now, so the August and September pages from other years will have recordings on too (although whether the links still work, I've not checked...
Let me know if you're interested in any of the older ones...
I got the same sort of response when I spoke to him at the Celtic Connections earlier in the year Lindsay. can't remember exactly how he put it - didn't say 'not a chance' - but it wasn't an encouraging answer. was hoping his poetic aloofness was due to contract but, as Ray says, he doesn't strike me as the type

Spoke to BPB last night after the gig in Holmfirth. He may have been a bit cagey but he said he's not playing Green Man this year.

bonnie doesn't strike me as a man who'd tell you a fib because of his contractual obligations!
but as i'm seeing him twice this week, i'll just have to grin and bear the fact that he won't be at GM
i don't think the amount of alcohol exists that would embolden me to talk to him though
so i still think you went above and beyond to answer our need to know!

Thoroughly enjoyed BPB and
Thoroughly enjoyed BPB and TBs at Warwick Arts Centre on saturday. Wasn't 100% convinced by the album but it works a treat live.

not my fave BPB record - but live it's a corker
saw both the oxford and london shows
oxford was better by a mile
the sweaty back room of a pub a far better venue for that warped psych than the bass and drums eating spire of the union chapel
both shows are up on dime, btw
