Every party needs a leader, and if you’re looking for someone to pilot this year’s festivities then look no further than London’s Melt Yourself Down. A hybrid of influences and genres, the collective incorporate elements of many North African musical styles, from jazz and funk to punk and pop. Led by saxophonist Pete Wareham (formerly of Acoustic Ladyland) the band’s complex but always playful web of noise makes for a righteous journey - and 2016’s second album, Last Evenings On Earth, pushed their dizzying craft to a whole new level. Don’t forget to pack your dancing shoes.
