Okay, twenty-plus members is a lot – but then, Vancouver’s Crack Cloud are more of a universe than a band. Offstage, the multimedia collective trade in visual storytelling as much as musical, if their cinematic music videos are anything to go by. Most members met through addiction recovery programmes, and themes of rehabilitation and redemption chart their output, most recently on last year’s second album Pain Olympics. The group’s anthemic art punk is a sonic tonic containing everything from hardcore to hip-hop to protest song. Onstage, Crack Cloud’s seven core members provide a vital, mesmeric live show that’d you’d be foolish to miss when they come our way this summer.
