Folk singer songwriter from the mountains of North Wales Andy Hickie has lived out on the road in a camper earning his troubadour stripes gigging, collecting stories and sharing his songs the old fashioned way across Ireland and the UK.
With his guitar, harmonica, banjo and tambourine shoe Andy Hickie sings tales of freedom, love, and life on the road, as well as his powerful singing of traditional folk ballads. When joined by ‘The Merry Maidens’ the seven-piece group, fuse their influences of folk-rock, roots, and alternative sounds to create a gathering of folk like no other.
2011 saw Andy Hickie release his debut ‘I’d Rather Be Ramblin’ followed by a UK tour and with a string of festival appearances under his belt including Glastonbury and Wickerman. Green Man will be a dream come true for Andy. If you’re a regular to the Green Man Festival and you find yourself at the big fire after hours you will have no doubt seen him sing as he has sung till sunrise since the festival started. This will be a special gig for Andy with stories, laughs and celebration.
